What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

Time to retreat from the mad world for a few minutes to inspect  some Log Cabin quilt designs.

I love the first two designs, but  my favourite for today is not included in those two.

Not too sure what to think of the diagonal design of the third. one.

Number four is my favourite … a combination of rings and diamonds!

I also like the last one for this week’s retreat, but there will be more mid week, next week.

All designs use  36 identical blocks, and there are still heaps in the project file for later on.
 

Not too sure the best way to put the blocks together, but my first try would be paper piecing, perhaps some very intricate cutting and putting the logs together before starting building the blocks.

Adding redrafted Curved Log Cabin blocks allows some very different and interesting designs!

There are a multitude of ways of arranging the leaf blocks without adding the Curved Log Cabin variations.

I have just added three variations of the design for future reference, but I like it as it is above.

Perhaps that should be logs, twigs, sticks or leaves! The curves are created using straight lines with a slight change of angle for with each change of colour. At this point I haven’t tried to work out the best way to piece these blocks, but I suspect most would be happiest with paper piecing by machine, though I think I would prefer hand piecing. At this point in time there are two variations of the basic block, each in two variations of colour use in the project file, and an ever growing collection of designs.
